Although “Little Alchemy 2” begins with elements represented by small icons, such as a flame for fire and a droplet for water, the game presents the idea of small as an independent element.
Since the existence of small in the real world relies on the ability of people to make mental comparisons and distinctions between the size and significance of different things, you can’t make the Small element in the game without combining a specific idea- and thought-related element with one of twelve other elements that serve as examples of small.
The below steps show you the easiest method for making Small:
1. Bring Humans Into Existence
The only way to make the Small element is with the Philosophy element as its foundation. That said, neither Small nor Philosophy can exist without humans since all of these concepts are based on human perception.
If you don’t already have Philosophy, then you must first perform all of the element combinations necessary to make the Human element:
- Water + Water = Puddle
- Puddle + Puddle = Pond
- Pond + Pond = Lake
- Lake + Lake = Sea
- Sea + Earth = Primordial Soup
- Fire + Fire = Energy
- Primordial Soup + Energy = Life
- Fire + Earth = Lava
- Lava + Air = Stone
- Stone + Air = Sand
- Earth + Water = Mud
- Mud + Sand = Clay
- Clay + Life = Human
The Human icon, a golden figure inside of a circle, pops up on the screen with the words “The most dangerous game.”
2. Create Bright Ideas
One of the foundations of Philosophy in “Little Alchemy 2” is the Idea element. A surge of innovation during the Industrial Revolution resulted in people harnessing electricity for light and power and associating new ideas with illumination and light bulbs.
You must make these same associations in the game to create the Idea and Philosophy elements:
- Earth + Earth = Land
- Land + Land = Continent
- Continent + Continent = Planet
- Planet + Fire = Sun
- Energy + Sun = Solar Cell
- Solar Cell + Sun = Electricity
- Fire + Sand = Glass
- Electricity + Glass = Light Bulb
The Light Bulb icon, an incandescent bulb, appears with the words “An illuminator, both physically and mentally.”
- Human + Light Bulb = Idea
A human brain with a light bulb above it appears with the words “A thought given weight.”
- Idea + Human = Philosophy
The Philosophy icon, a white thought bubble, pops up on the screen with the words “The study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence of poultry.”
2. Form Small in Human Thoughts
Now that you have collected the element that deals best with thoughts and questions about existence and the world, you make Small by combining it with elements that reflect the idea of small, such as Ant, Bacteria, Bee, Carbon Dioxide, Confetti, Oxygen, Ozone, Pebble, Rivulet, Scorpion, Seahorse, and Spider.
If you don’t yet have any of these elements, it’s okay. The fastest way to create Small is to focus on the Ozone element:
In the real world, the ozone layer in the atmosphere protects life on Earth from radiation. It is associated with air, atmosphere, and electricity. In fact, you can make it by combining Air or Atmosphere with Electricity.
The Ozone icon, an image of the Earth with a white layer inside of the atmosphere bubble deflecting rays from the Sun, and the words “When oxygen gets a little gassy after too many electric shocks” appear onscreen.
You then give Small to humanity by combining Ozone with Philosophy:
- Ozone + Philosophy = Small
The Small icon, a blue circle with four blue arrows pointing to a white dot at the center, appears on the screen with the words “A size of lesser means.”
Warning:
When you use Ozone for this purpose, the game tells you that Ozone is now a depleted item that you must send to the Encyclopedia.
In the real world, people actively attempt to prevent ozone depletion because holes in the ozone layer allow more UV radiation to reach the planet’s surface and harm life!
How Does Small Fit Into “Little Alchemy 2”?
People use concepts like small to make comparisons between things. They associate the idea of small with contraction, reduction, shrinkage, and insignificance when compared to the norm. They also compare it to big, which is associated with expansion, increase, growth and significance.
Without small, people wouldn’t have words to describe small-related things and scenarios, such as baby, bit, compact, diminutive, grain, inconsequential, itty-bitty, little, microscopic, mini, minute, negligible, puny, small-scale, tiny, trifling, undersized and wee.
Why does any of this real-world stuff matter?
The whole point of “Little Alchemy 2” is to learn more about how everything in the world connects and builds off of other things. Without small, the very idea of a large element originating from combinations of smaller elements wouldn’t exist.
The Small element aids in the creation of 30 elements. Although you can create many of these elements using other elements, some of them wouldn’t exist in the game without Small:
- Small + Planet = Mercury
- Small + Jupiter = Saturn
- Small + Dinosaur = Lizard
- Small + Bird = Hummingbird
- Small + Air = Gust
- Small + Wind = Gust
- Small + Life = Bacteria
- Small + Tree = Bonsai Tree & Plant
- Small + Continent = Land
- Small + Mountain = Hill
- Small + Hill = Boulder
- Small + Boulder = Rock
- Small + Rock = Pebble
- Small + Stone = Pebble
- Small + Earth = Pebble
- Small + Pebble = Sand
- Small + Pond = Puddle
- Small + Lake = Pond
- Small + River = Stream
- Small + Stream = Rivulet
- Small + Ocean = Sea
- Small + Sea = Lake
- Small + Swimming Pool = Aquarium
- Small + Shovel = Spoon
- Small + Pitchfork = Fork
- Small + Computer = Laptop
- Small + Laptop = Tablet
- Small + Tablet = Smartphone
- Small + Demon = Goblin
- Small + Monster = Goblin
- Small + Jörmungandr = Ouroboros
- Small + Clock = Watch
- Small + Alchemist = Little Alchemy
A Journey of Discovery: Life’s Little Treasures
As you’ve seen, you can derive a lot of pleasure from even the smallest of elements in “Little Alchemy 2.” The elements directly connected to the Small element aren’t the only treasures in the game.
With Hill, for example, you can discover Anthill. With Puddle, you can find Frog. With Rock, you can even add a Gargoyle to your world.
Bacteria leads you to Microscope, Mold, Organic Matter, and Plankton. Lizard leads you to Chameleon, Egg, and Salamander. And, if you want to find bigger things, it can also lead you to Alligator and Dragon. Lastly, with Stream, you can track down the elusive Japanese yōkai Kappa.
