By comparison, YouTube gets around 203,333,333 video views per hour on average, but they’ve been around longer. 

While TikTok is getting over 200K video views per hour,  users spend an astounding average of 52 minutes a day on TikTok – the average user opening the app 4-5 times in a day.

Looking at those numbers, there’s no denying the marketing power of TikTok. Considering that they were only launched internationally in September 2017, TikTok is doing much better than the likes of YouTube and Snapchat that have been on the market for much longer. TikTok was the most downloaded app (non-gaming) worldwide in June 2020 and gathered over 120,833 downloads every hour. Looking at the list of monthly downloads, TikTok is doing much better than other highly ranked apps like Zoom, WhatsApp, and Instagram that have been around for much longer.

Sensor Tower reported that among the top five short-video apps in the US, TikTok accounted for 76% of total category downloads, while the other four competitors represented 24%.

Worldwide, TikTok has been the only contender to Facebook and was placed among the top four global apps in 2020, and the only app in the top five is not owned by Facebook (Facebook, Whatsapp, Messenger, Instagram). In 2020, TikTok broke the record for having the most downloads per quarter than any other app before, with 315 million downloads.

3. Tiktok generates USD 125,972 in revenue every hour (worldwide)

The highest-grossing app (non-gaming) worldwide for September 2020 was TikTok, with the video-sharing platform generating more than $130.5 million in revenue. For every hour, they are generating close to $125,972; 6.3X higher than its earnings from the same period last year.

According to Sensor Tower, approximately 89 percent of TikTok’s revenue for the same month came from China, while only 6 percent came from the United States and 1 percent from Turkey.

Furthermore, TikTok surpassed YouTube’s gross revenue of about 85 million USD for June 2020. The next top-grossing apps were Tinder, followed by Disney+ and Tencent video.

4. Addison Rae Easterling (top-earning star on TikTok) earns $579 every single hour from TikTok
