How to Make Coal in Little Alchemy 2 (Step-by-Step Guide)

Coal is such an underrated resource. Since its discovery in the 1600s by French explorers, it has been a great source of fuel and energy that power most large, industrialized, and modern cities from a majority of countries today.

Compared to wood fuel, coal provides a higher amount of energy per mass which is why it is highly utilized for electricity generation.

Coal, however, has its drawbacks and controversies. Since it is extracted from the Earth or mined, there are significant environmental impacts that are linked with coal mining.

Like any form of mining, you require to remove a massive amount of topsoil, which will lead to erosion, loss of habitable are for animals and people, and since it is burned to create energy, it causes air pollution.

Luckily, with the help of Little Alchemy 2, we will create Coal through basic elements, as well as understanding other elements that can create coal and what can you create from combining coal with, without the negative impact on the planet! Whew!

But what do you need to create Coal in Little Alchemy 2? Simple, Peat and Earth! Hold on, Peat is not one of the base elements you can see on the menu right now.

This article is a part of LifeRejoice’s step-by-step ‘how to’ guide series for making Elements in Little Alchemy 2. Click here to check out more Little Alchemy 2 Element guides.

Don’t you worry! We have prepared an easy step-by-step guide on how you can create Coal from scratch, including the missing element, Peat! Let’s get started!

Step 1: Create Peat

Not known to many, but peat provides a crucial role in providing sustainable energy. Not only that, it acts as a natural carbon store, which means that it absorbs more carbon from the atmosphere, rather than having to release it.

It is a great habitat for wildlife due to its damp ecosystem which can sustain most types of species. And lastly, it preserves animals well if they start to decompose, which is great for archeologists to study.

Here’s a quick way you can create Peat in Little Alchemy 2:

  1. Combine Fire (base element) + Fire to create Energy
  2. Combine Water (base element) + Water to create Puddle
  3. Combine Puddle + Puddle to create Pond
  4. Combine Pond + Pond to create Lake
  5. Combine Lake + Lake to create Sea
  6. Combine Sea + Earth (base element) to create Primordial Soup
  7. Combine Primordial Soup + Energy to create Life
  8. Combine Earth + Earth to create Land
  9. Combine Land + Land to create Continent
  10. Combine Continent + Continent to create Planet
  11. Combine Planet and Air (base element) to create Atmosphere
  12. Combine Atmosphere + Water to create Cloud
  13. Combine Cloud + Water to create Rain
  14. Combine Earth + Life to create Soil
  15. Combine Soil + Rain to create Plant
  16. Combine Air + Air to create Pressure
  17. Combine Earth + Water to create Mud
  18. Combine Earth + Plant to create Grass
  19. Combine Grass + Mud to create Swamp
  20. Finally, combine Swamp + Pressure to create Peat

You may also unlock Peat with other combinations such as:

**Time is a base element that cannot be created through combinations. It will automatically unlock once you have gathered 100 elements including the 4 basic elements.

Unlocking Peat will also allow you to combine it with other elements in the game. However, all combinations will only result in Coal.

  • Peat + Pressure = Coal
  • Peat + Rock = Coal
  • Peat + Stone = Coal
  • Peat + Time = Coal

Step 2: Create Coal and Other Combinations

After unlocking Peat, you may now combine it with Earth to finally create Coal. You may also try these combinations to create or unlock coal:

  • Organic Matter + Pressure
  • Peat + Pressure
  • Peat + Rock
  • Peat + Stone
  • Peat + Time

If you do not have Organic Matter, you can create it with the following steps below.

  1. Combine Earth + Earth to create Land
  2. Combine Land + Land to create Continent
  3. Combine Continent + Continent to create Planet
  4. Combine Planet + Planet to create Solar System
  5. Combine Solar System + Solar System to create Galaxy
  6. Combine Galaxy + Galaxy to create Galaxy Cluster
  7. Combine Galaxy Cluster + Galaxy Cluster to create Universe
  8. Combine Earth + Water to create Mud
  9. Combine Fire + Fire to create Energy
  10. Combine Earth + Fire to create Lava
  11. Combine Lava + Air to create Stone
  12. Combine Stone + Mud to create Clay
  13. Combine Water + Water to create Puddle
  14. Combine Puddle + Puddle to create Pond
  15. Combine Pond + Pond to create Lake
  16. Combine Lake + Lake to create Sea
  17. Combine Sea + Earth to create Primordial Soup
  18. Combine Primordial Soup + Energy to create Life
  19. Combine Life + Clay to create Human
  20. Combine Human + Universe to create Science
  21. Finally, combine Science + Life to create Organic Matter

If you do not have Rock, you can create it with the following steps below

  1. Combine Water + Water to create Puddle
  2. Combine Puddle + Puddle to create Pond
  3. Combine Pond + Pond to create Lake
  4. Combine Lake + Lake to create Sea
  5. Combine Sea + Earth to create Primordial Soup
  6. Combine Fire + Fire to create Energy
  7. Combine Primordial Soup + Energy to create Life
  8. Combine Life + Fire to create Phoenix
  9. Combine Phoenix + Phoenix to create Egg
  10. Combine Mud + Life to create Bacteria
  11. Combine Stone + Fire to create Metal
  12. Combine Stone + Stone to create Wall
  13. Combine Wall + Wall to create House
  14. Combine Earth + Metal to create Plow
  15. Combine Plow + Earth to create Field
  16. Combine Field + House to create Barn
  17. Combine Barn + Egg to create Chicken
  18. Combine Egg + Chicken to create Philosophy
  19. Combine Philosophy + Bacteria to create Small
  20. Combine Small + Earth to create Pebble
  21. Finally, combine Pebble + Pebble to create Rock

Unlocking Coal will also allow you to combine it with other elements to unlock amazing elements! Here are all of the combinations:

  • Coal + Fire = Fire
  • Coal + Metal = Steel
  • Coal + Pressure = Diamond
  • Coal + Snow = Snowman
  • Coal + Snowball = Snowman
  • Coal + Wood = Pencil

Understanding fuel is very important for humans, especially for the younger generation. Fuel drives economies, transportation, innovation, and evolution.

Due to the use of traditional fuel sources like coal and crude oil, and how it negatively impacts the environment, more and more people do not tend to research and further expand sustainable energy as a great substitution.

Hopefully by exploring and creating elements in Little Alchemy 2, opens your perception of the impact these elements are on the planet. Do you want to learn more?
